Winter HUGS & THANKS

Winter is still with us and around here it’s feeling like winter – which I enjoy.  I brought out my big HUGS and big THANKS and a snowflake edger die to capture some winter for a couple of cards for my Etsy shop – Cotton2Craft that my daughter and I have just launched!  While there is not any stamping on the card front, I always stamps the back of the cards I make with a sentiment from the stamp set listed below.  It’s sort of become my trademark and my word for this year is JOY!  Kind of fits don’t you think?  Here are the details for these two cards!
·       Stamp set(s):  Papertrey Ink – New Every Morning SS (back of card)
·       Ink(s):  Gina K Designs – Ocean Mist
·       Paper:  Gina K Designs – Ocean Mist; Neenah Solar White 110#; Michael’s Glitter CS
·       Dies & Embossing folders:   MFT – Big HUG & Big THANKS Die-namics; Hero Arts – Snowflake Edge Fancy Die
·       Embellishments/Other things of note:  Pretty Pink Posh – Snowflake Sequins Mix
I cut out the HUGS and THANKS 3 times – once in glitter cardstock and two times in the same color cardstock as the card front to give my sentiments some dimension!  It really helps the sentiment word to stand out while giving some additional texture to my card front.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!  I hope you’ve enjoyed what you’ve seen.  Please click the link if you’d like to follow me to be notified of new posts!

Just Mason Around with an Oopsie Daisy

I’ve got two cards today using new products released in July from the Greetery.  These are such timeless sets that I had to have in my stash of stamps and dies!  I could kick myself with the card with the Mason Jar.  I forgot to use an embossing folder.  Sometimes I get so involved in the layout and arranging of the images that I just leave out an element or two.  I did it again with the bouquet of daisy card so I took a pen and added random dots all over the card front.  Sometimes I just really wonder about myself!!!  Here is my list of things I used for these two cards.  I’ll also be submitting these for everyone to see for the Daily Marker 30 Day challenge that’s still going on!  I did get inky fingers though which always makes me happy!

·      Stamp set(s):  The Greetery – Just Mason Around SS & Oopsie Daisy SS
·      Ink(s):  PTI/ITP – Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Harvest Gold, Bright Buttercup, Dark Chocolate, Fine Linen
·      Paper:  Gina K Designs - #120 Heavy Weight White; PTI/ITP – Classic Kraft, Classic Kraft Gingham, Harvest Gold Gingham
·      Dies & Embossing folders:  The Greetery – Just Mason Around & Oopsie Daisy Dies; MFT – Stitched Edges Basic Die
·      Embellishments/Other things of note:  Pretty Pink Posh – 6mm Lemon Meringue, Espresso Sequins & 4mm Metallic Gold Sequins; Wink of Stella – Clear; Pentel – Sunburst Metallic Gold Pen
Thanks for stopping by and taking a peak at my thoughts about these two cards even though there are some changes I’d make if I hadn’t already glued down the images.  We all make mistakes and overlook things – just aren’t perfect!

Many Blessings,
Donna

Sunshine On My Mind

I’ve had a busy month.  My youngest daughter has spent much of the last year doing medical mission work in Africa or here in the states working to pay her bills while overseas.  While stateside, she has living here with us.  I put her on the plane yesterday for Conakry, Guinea which is on the coast of West Africa.  This is her third trip to Africa to do medical missions work there.  I’m so proud of her!  She will spend 12 weeks aboard the Mercy Hospital Ship as a pediatric ward nurse.  I’m sending her a card with a package that didn’t make it here in time to go with her. This is what I came up with today. A little different from most of the cards I do as my florals are usually stamped and colored not cut out with dies like I did here.  I really like how this turned out and deliberately chose bright colors to become a part of Rebecca’s wall art while on board the ship!  Here are the details of what I used to make it!  I really am loving the Yellow Sunshine stamp set I've used here.  Great sentiments for all types of occasions.
·      Stamp set(s):  Papertrey Ink – Yellow Sunshine Stamp Set & New Every Morning Stamps Set
·      Ink(s):  PTI – Summer Sunrise, Terracotta Tile, Harvest Gold
·      Paper:  PTI – Terracotta Tile, Simply Chartreuse, Melon Berry, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Harvest Gold, Ripe Avocado Gingham, Rustic White
·      Dies & Embossing folders:  My Favorite Things – Little Flowers & Fresh Cut Dies
·      Embellishments/Other things of note:  Pretty Pink Posh - Autumn Harvest Sequin Mix

This was so nice to share some time with you today! I hope you’ve had a wonderful Sunday. I’m gearing up here to make several more cards before I pack up my “studio” a.k.a. craftroom for my move to Greenville, SC in early May to be closer to my oldest daughter.  My husband and I need a place to live near relatives as we grow peacefully into our senior years!
Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting today!

Doing the Polka Birthday Bash!

We are having a busy week in our family this week.  Our son-in-law’s birthday is on March 26th and our 9th wedding anniversary is also on the 26th.  We also have bought a new car to replace a relative new but unreliable 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee!  Left the Chrysler products and went for a RAV4!  I am using this card in 2 Verve Challenges for this month.  One is “Do the Polka Diva Dare” and I used the Viva la Verve March 2014 sketch for week 1.  This was a fun sketch and really enjoyed going a bit outside my box creating a card that isn’t feminine – well for me anyway!  LOL  But I did go “dottie” with the dots on the patterned paper and both embossing folders.
·       Stamp set(s):  Stampin’ Up! – Word Play, Oh, Hello, & From My Heart; Heartfelt Creations – Tattered Background
·       Ink(s):  Stampin’ Up! – Early Espresso & Coastal Cabana
·       Paper:  Stampin’ Up! – Coastal Cabana, Very Vanilla, DSP Pattern Stack 2012-2013(ret.); Basic Grey – Serenade Half Penny & 50 Pence; The Paper Studio – Solid Glitter Champagne
·       Dies & Embossing folders:  Stampin’ Up! – Oval Framelits; Marianne – Cupcake Creatables; My Favorite Things – Washi Tape Die-Namics; Provocraft – Cuttlebug Poka Dots & Swiss Dots Embossing Folder
The card came together easily.  All the images were edged in Early Espresso to go with the shabby look I was going for to coordinate with the Basic Grey paper.  The oval was stamped with the oval shape from Oh, Hello, cut out with the Framelits and then run through the Swiss Dots EF.  The yellow dotted patterned paper was embossed with the Polka Dot EF.  I cut out the “Washi Tape” from one stamped image and 2 papers (see above).  I used the candle die from the Marianne die to add some bling to the card – after all, the candle does need to sparkle a bit!
Thanks for taking the time to drop by my part of the blogging world!  Please feel free to leave me a comment.  I love hearing what you think!
Many Blessings,
Donna
